Student of the Month Final Story ft. Hanna Jaser

This past month, Hanna Jaser, junior, was nominated for student of the month. What’s different about Jaser is that she is actually and exchange student from Germany, choosing to study abroad here in Texas for one year.

This award is important to Bowie Students as it gives them a reason to work harder. Jaser understands what receiving this award means, and knows her hard work payed off.

“I just worked hard and tried to give the best I could to everything I did,” Jaser said.

When Hanna walked into her 2nd period math class April 3rd, she found the Principal and other assistant Principles waiting there with a certificate and a little buffet of cookies.

“I was really surprised and extremely happy,” Jaser said.

Jaser said she hadn't neccesarily prepared for this moment.

“I never thought i would be Student of the Month, but i always worked hard, so i guess that prepared me for this,” she said.

To be Student of the Month, you have to excel in your grades, but you also have to be well rounded participating, in extracurricular activities.

“I participate in lacrosse, music, and am interested in medicine.  I was also involved with Student Leadership back home in Germany,” she said.

While most students have no clue what they want to do as a career, Jaser is set in her way to be a doctor.

“I would like to attend either UT, Heidelberg, or Berlin. I want to pursue the career of a cardiothoracicsurgoen,” she said.

Being awarded Student of the month is a definitely something to be proud of, but she doesn't think it was just herself that got her here.

“My parents have made a big impact in my life and have shaped me to be smart, kind and loyal,” she said.

When asked what advice she would give to anyone trying to achieve Student of the month or any other kind of award, she thinks it mostly about just being who you are.

“Just work hard to achieve your goals, get through the hard times, and stay true to yourself.”
