Other High School Newspapers

1.  My favorite newspaper  front page is probably "The outlet," because its a really good photo with the girl gearing up to swing a golf club.   The photo caught her in her action, and it just makes the whole cover look nice.
2. The first paper that immediately grabbed my attention was the "twitter takes over" newspaper.   This grabbed my attention because it has to do with social media, which is a big interest in my generation. The title makes us want to open and rad that article because Twitter interests us.
3. The headline that caught my attention was "FHS Twitter accounts have crossed the line" because this was what brought me to look inside the newspaper and so i immediately  would want to read the article about it
4.  On my favorite, there are 4 stories on the front page.
5. On most of the front pages, i noticed that there is one dominant photo and a few tiny ones.  There is usually a lot of text, explaining some story or sort of like a table or contents, or talking about a person or group.
6. Some things that vary on the front pages on some of the newspapers is the size of the dominant photo, where the text is placed, and how many columns of writing there is.
7. Yes they were similar as they had a dominant photo, and a lot of text.  But those newspapers were different because of where the texts and photos were placed.

Words:
Headline: words at he beginning of a passage meant to categorize and introduce
Subheadlines: smaller words after headline mean to elaborate on it
Lines: eye lines and lines are lines that draw the readers eye to the photos in the newspaper
Boxes: type that is framed in a border to give it prominence
Photos: pictures taken to insert into a newspaper based upon a theme
Teaser: a short note or item referring and promoting a news article
Flag: the printed title of a newspaper at the beginning of page
Folios: the name, date, and page # that appear at top of each page
Captions: text or headline with a picture or illustration
Stories: passages of text that usually accompany a photo explaining a theme
Bylines: authors name, which is printed at the beginning of an article

Magazine Cover Peer Review

1. Mulberry By Olivia Norman
2.  I liked how the cover is really simple because it doesn't distract from your face. The light purple  background is complimenting to your face. I also liked how your aren't smiling or laughing, you are sort of neutral, which make the photo cool.
3. Maybe you could have added some sort of accessory to your fingers because you like to wear rings, or added some splash of color somewhere.
4.  I chose this cover because it looks like a cool artist band cover sort of, all retro and cool.  There isn't too much going on, and i like it that way.
5. Yes there is a bar code.
6. That made it a lot more magazine-like because all magazine have bar codes and this makes it look more real.
7. It's a self portrait because its a photo of her face and she took it with her camera.

 3. My favorite photo was "pause".  Its not what i would have done and it has a really cool point of view. I like the composition and the colors, the dead leaves add a sort of sadness but hope to the photo. While the photo was being shot, the wind caught the leaves which made it look really pretty.
4. The photo i liked least was "eight"because it didn't have as good composition as the others. It had symmetry, but i didn't particularly like the lighting.  Other than that, its a fine photo.
 5. The photos in this prompt shoot overall capture good moments of the subject. I think the lighting is really good, especially in "pose".  I like how the light catches her hair.  In the "pause" photo, she probably used a high shutter speed. All of her photos were really good.
6.  I really liked all the photos, but one area they can improve on in my opinion is incorporating Composition Rules into her photos.  I didn't really see any rule definitely evident in them except the "eight" photo.
 7. I think that she did the best portraying "pose" because the subject is posing and the whole composition and lighting looks really good.  The girl posing is the main subject, and nothing is distracting the viewers from her, and the green bushes in the background look good in the photo.
 8. I think the least best prompt that they portrayed was "eight." She could have been more creative and used another subject for eight.  But i still like the photo.

Good portraits
1.  I like this photo because it involves a relationship between a person and an instrument, which can sometimes be stressful.  Maybe he is praying to it, or just exhausted or something.
2. Simplicity is a composition rule evident in this photo.  The background is plain white, and isn't busy at all. it being plain doesn't distract from the subject .
3.  This portrait was taken by taken y unknown from Pinterest. 

Oldest Things in the World
1.  I love love one this photo.  I love the ocean and mountains and this photo sort of reminds me of Oregon and Norway  put together, both places i miss so much.  I like the colors, the blue with the white. This is a beautiful picture, And apparently this is 5,500 years old, and its in Antarctica.
2.  A rule of photography i see in here is balance.  Instead of the photographer just taking a photo of the ocean, they positioned the camera so there were mountains in the background, balancing the whole photo.

Eagle Flying
1.  Eagles are one of my favorite animals, which is why i chose this picture.  The Eagle looks so free in the sky and ready to do anything.
2.  A rule of photography i noticed here is the rule of thirds. The eagle is situated on the right side of the shot and is looking at the left, showing where he is going, and there is space for him to go.

Spiral Staircase
1. I really liked this photo because the stairs in the picture are old and curving.  I like the railing and the yellowish color of the photo, which makes it look old and interesting. Spiral Staircases are my favorite, so i enjoyed looking at this site.
2. One rule of photography i see is leading lines.  The lines of the stair railing lead our eyes to the center of the photo.  Other rules of photography evident here are depth and pattern. There are patterns on the wall and there is a different level of staircase in top middle and bottom of the photo.

Time lapse Video
1.  In the video i saw a time lapse of many scenic attractions in Rio. A lot of the places were centered at the ocean, so there were some cool shots of waves rolling in super fast.
2. The photographer was Kate May and as been a regular photographer for a long time and was inspired to do a time lapse by a video from Tom Lowe.  She uses her vacation days from work to go to places like Iceland and Rio to shoot time lapses.
3.  Panasonic saw May's Iceland video and wanted her to do a time-lapse fore them.  She chose to go to Rio, which has been on the top of her list for a while.
4. I learned beautiful things, like photography, can take a long time, but its worth it in the end
